Howl 2007
Today when the UK still occupies Iraq as a hostile invading force (and will probably support the USA in aggression against Iran), when disease is bringing the country's farming industry to its knees, and one in five children still leaves school functionally illiterate... what does the BBC's website list as a 'top story'?
A has-been soccer star's father has a heart attack...
I have seen the best minds of my generation wasted...
Playing video games...
Watching reality TV...
Discussing Celebrity Big Brother...
Having opinions about soccer teams...
Reading trash written by overpraised authors...
Drinking Alcopops...
Eating microwave food...
Speed dating...
Courting 'friends' on cell phones and keyboards...
Using 50 different medical terms as euphemisms for FAILURE...
Worshipping at the anaemic sepulchres of New Age philosophy...
And never thinking at all.

Truly, America is going through a very dark part in its history. with the country's dangerous flirtation with Christian fundamentalism being a major part of this tragic sickness. The lessons of Vietnam and indeed the Prohibition experiment have not been learned.
However, it is worth pointing out that it was the UK that gave America Big Brother and the concept of the 'reality' TV show. For which I can't apologise enough. As if American television was short of garbage! Although America may be at the wheel, the UK and other countries are not just terrified passengers in the demise of western civilisation, we are passing the driver the hip flask and urging him to go faster.

You are correct. Other peoples are urging America to drive faster, because human nature is of course the same in other peoples as it is in Americans. Humans are extremely emotional, hence their general neurosis, and specifically their insecurity, immaturity, impulsiveness, affinity for drugs and alcohol, et cetera. American culture actually preys on people's weaknesses, encouraging them to be weak and to indulge their desires, including their most self-destructive desires, which they do out of neurosis. As one example, America gave humanity tobacco, and humans' almost universal insecurity has caused hundreds of millions of people to self-destructively suck on cigarettes until it killed them. There are many more examples of self-destructive behavior which is encouraged by American culture, and of course by other cultures also. Due to their emotionality, which causes neurosis, humans are so weak that they can be motivated to be self-destructive. The self-destruction can be psychological as well as physical; and when one includes that, one sees hundreds of ways in which people are psychologically self-destructive. And all of this self-destruction is encouraged by their culture.
All of this is obvious, and you already knew it, but it needs to be stated explicitly now and then, because the truth about human nature is the explanation for irrational human behavior. The answer to the question "Why do people do that?'" is simply, "People are crazy." They do it because they're crazy. Humans are crazy.
Many Satanists favor greater government control over society, within the context of capitalism, as a solution to the problem of cultural encouragement of human faults. This might be the logical point of view for someone who actually cares about humanity.
America is at the wheel, but because of humans' emotionality, other peoples are indeed urging America to drive faster. Everywhere, humans are weak.
They are weak, because they are crazy.
Humans are pitiful, aren't they?

People tend to be crazy because, compared to the lot of their ancestors even 100 years ago, they have an incredible amount of choices.
Social mobility has never been greater and the rags to riches potential of becoming a 'celebrity' has never been either more attainable (once you had to be beautiful or talented), neither has it been more omnipresent.
With this feeling of potential, comes the inevitable feeling of failure in that vast majority who do not attain it. These dual feeling of having the opportunity to achieve anything, but still being a loser, drives many people crazy. They drink too much, do drugs they can't handle and spend money they haven't earned. In the ghetto, the 'get rich quick or die trying' attitude results in a lot of young people taking the latter option
Which leads me to my next point. A proper stratification in society based on ability and achievement would relieve these, as you say, pitiable people of the burden of failing to achieve a lifestyle they will never attain.
Similarly, psychotropic drugs have been used by shamen for millenia to achieve other states of mind and bring back useful information for the rest of their communities. Within our society this has been transmuted into 'recreational drugs' which while a minority can use them with impunity, the carnage that takes place every weekend on the streets of every major town demonstrates that they are not for the masses.
The more careful control of those who do not have the strength and will to determine their own fates will result in a more stable society, and ultimately, longer, happier and more fulfilling lives for those who are at the bottom.
