Action, Not Words
Reviewing Opus Diaboli's first twelve months, I have been initially disappointed at how little I have managed to get done in terms of posting entries here. On reflection, I reviewed all the things I have been doing over the past year: moving to a new city; a new career path; paintings; prints, jewellery making and last but not least, being involved in the launch of Advocatus Diabolus Grotto website.
I have also struck out with successful and lucrative legal action again those that thought they could cross me with inpunity.
In short, I've spent more time DOING than writing my thoughts down, and while I would have liked Opus Diaboli to be more developed than it presently is, I cannot apologise for that.
Likewise, I turn my mind to tonight - Walpurgisnacht. I prefer Walpurgisnacht to Hallowe'en for a number of reasons. Firstly, like seasoned drinkers who won't go out on New Year's Eve because of the amateur drunks, so do the children of the light who borrow our clothes for one night only, get on my nerves.
Secondly, Walpurgisnacht is set at the apex of Spring. A time of lengthening evenings, blossoming trees and growth. This is a good time to recognise that, although we like to style ourselves creatures of the shadows, we are aligned to the rising power, to strength and vitality - and those qualities are never more evident that in spring.
On this Walpurgisnacht, I will be carrying out a powerful ritual aimed at bringing forth another year of opportunity and prosperity, and I encourage you to do likewise.
What defines us as Satanists is not wearing Baphomets, black clothes or our choice of music, or even our beliefs; it is our actions which define us, and ritual is an elemental form of action, calling on the forces of nature, both within and without, and commanding them to align themselves with our will.
I will be then, starting the second years of Opus Diaboli in the manner of the first year, with action, not words.
